As a grand finale to the Just Show Up series over the last several weeks, Jill and I asked a few of the girls to join us in a roundtable discussion about what it looked like to learn how to show up for Kara and do friendship with someone who was dying. These are some of the women you’ve seen in Kara’s pictures, rubbing her feet and laughing with her, sharing her table, caring for her children, just doing life together.
#8: Just Show Up Q & A (MFP)
You asked for it!! This week on the Mundane Faithfulness Podcast, Jill and I answer questions from you, our readers and friends. We don’t have all the answers, but we share our experiences and what we’ve learned from showing up effectively and not so effectively…
#7: Chapters 8 & 9 with Mickey (MFP)
This week in the studio, Jill and I talked to none other than the wise, beloved, nurturing, queen of community, Mickey! She FaceTimed in from her vacation to talk to us about what it looks like to show up, to build community, to love others, and to trust God in all of that. Jill and I cried the entire time—it was a reminder of the hours we spent sitting at her feet being mentored and cared for by her. Many of you have expressed a desire to know more about her and hear from her. We hope this encourages and blesses you.
#6: Chapters 6 & 7 with Ali (MFP)
This week for the Mundane Faithfulness Podcast, Jill and I sit down with Ali to discuss Chapters 6 & 7 of Jill and Kara’s book, Just Show Up. Friends, there were lots of tears (and laughter!) in the studio and so much wisdom shared (by Ali and Jill!) about insecurities when just showing up for others. Most of the questions we field about what just showing up looks like involve insecurity of some description. We hope this helps sort out some of your questions and encourages you.
#5: Chapters 4 & 5 with Shellie (MFP)
This week, Shellie joined Jill and me in the studio to discuss chapters 4 & 5 of Just Show Up. Friends, the three of us could have sat and talked all day. Shellie truly knows hard—what it’s like to just show up for your dying friend, but also what it’s like to be on the receiving end, having others showing up for her and her family. As she shares in this episode, she went from a hurting, reluctant stranger to dear friend in a matter of weeks, finally having the community her heart longed for. Her story is extraordinary, and I hope and pray that this will be an encouragement to you today.
